Plantwide Operability Analysis based on a Network Perspective: a Study on the Tennessee Eastman Process

چکیده
Complex process plants increasingly appear in modern chemical industry due to the considerable economic efficiency that complex and interactive process designs can offer. Interactions between process units (e.g., material recycle and energy integration) often cause significant difficulties in plantwide control. As such, it is important to study plantwide operability (i.e., whether a plantwide process can be effectively controlled) prior to control system design and preferably during the stage of process design. This paper presents such an analysis approach based on a network perspective, where a plantwide process is modeled as a network of process units interconnected with physical mass and energy flows. This approach can be used to determine plantwide stability, stabilizability and disturbance attenuability. The proposed method is illustrated with the Tennessee Eastman Process.

متن کاملFuzzy Real-Time Optimization of the Tennessee Eastman Challenge Process
A Real-Time Optimization (RTO) strategy incorporating the fuzzy sets theory is developed, where the problem constraints obtained from process considerations are treated in fuzzy environment. Furthermore, the objective function is penalized by a fuzzified form of the key process constraints. To enable using conventional optimization techniques, the resulting fuzzy optimization problem is the...
متن کاملExercise 8
The objective of this exercise is to demonstrate how a steady state gain matrix, K can be calculated from a linearized state space dynamic process model. The approach used has been published by Arkun and Downs [1], and it is aimed at handling cases where integrating elements, e.g. liquid levels, are present. The dynamic approach is applied to the Tennessee Eastman process, and the relative gain...
متن کاملRNN-based Early Cyber-Attack Detection for the Tennessee Eastman Process
An RNN-based forecasting approach is used to early detect anomalies in industrial multivariate time series data from a simulated Tennessee Eastman Process (TEP) with many cyberattacks. This work continues a previously proposed LSTM-based approach to the fault detection in simpler data. It is considered necessary to adapt the RNN network to deal with data containing stochastic, stationary, trans...
متن کاملSteady State Operability Characteristics of an Adiabatic Fixed-Bed Reactor for Methanol Dehydration
Operability analysis as one of the most important bridges between process design and process control helps the process designer to investigate the control issues quite early in the design stage. Recently, Vinson and Georgakis suggested a steady state geometrical operability index as a quantitative measure for assessment of process operability. In...
